Nottingham Forest in talks over £40m move for 19-year-old Everton starlet Harrison Armstrong as they push forward with midfield rebuild

Nottingham Forest are continuing attempts to rebuild their midfield following Elliot Anderson’s sale.

They are speaking to Everton about a deal worth £40m for their homegrown midfielder Harrison Armstrong, 19, who started against Crystal Palace last week.

Everton's owners, the Friedkin Group, would face a backlash from supporters if they were to sell Armstrong and Iliman Ndiaye - a target for Manchester City - so close to the deadline without getting top quality in.

Forest have also enquired about a loan with option to buy Pape Matar Sarr from Tottenham, who also has Monaco interest. And they are continuing talks with Corinthians for 20-year-old Brazilian Andre.

Forest are close to reaching an agreement with Crystal Palace for Daniel Munoz. Forest made a £22m bid earlier this week and negotiations are at the final stages.

Forest travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime with new signing Liam Delap on the bench and summer signing Xaver Schlager coming in for Ibrahim Sangare, who has picked up an injury.

On Friday, Forest boss Oliver Glasner said: 'I think we will add two players. Close deals, quite close to be done, but now our focus is on the Liverpool match.

'That is the most important thing in the next 30 hours and then we have three more days to get the deals over the line.'
