Harry Kane scored the opener for Bayern Munich against Tottenham before missing a penalty in an eventful start to his pre-season clash against his former club.

The England skipper, who completed a £100m transfer from Bavaria from North London in 2023, did not celebrate after slotting the ball past Guglielmo Vicario in the 12th minute at the Allianz Arena.

Kane would have been expecting another awkward moment against the side he netted 279 goals for in 428 appearances, but he instead saw his 15th-minute penalty sail high over the crossbar after losing his footing when taking the strike.

The 32-year-old couldn't help but reveal a rye smile as he picked himself back up off the turf, having failed in his endeavour to inflict further damage on his boyhood club.

Thursday's clash was the second time Kane has faced his former side since his 2023 departure, with the first coming in north London last summer.

On that occasion, the Bayern star shirked the opportunity to lift the pre-season Visit Malta Cup after the German side ran out 3-2 winners against Spurs.
