The meaning behind Alejandro Garnacho's striking new neck tattoo has been revealed.

The Argentinian winger's large array of tattoos had been the subject of interest from fans long before he sealed a move to Chelsea this summer.

Many of his inkworks are inspired by television and film, with Garnacho sporting a sleeve of Prison Break characters, a portrait of actress Milly Bobby Brown and a tattoo of a scene from Japanese series Captain Tsubas.

However supporters have this season spotted some brand new ink on the Argentinian, this time on the front of his neck.

The tattoo written in Spanish was visible as Garnacho made his Champions League debut for Chelsea against Benfica on Tuesday.

It reads: 'Nuncio es suerte, simpre es dios', which translates to, 'It's never luck, it's always God.'

Alejandro Garnacho has long been known for his extravagant array of tattoos

And this season's he's sporting a particularly striking new one positioned on the front of his neck which translates to 'It's never luck, it's always God'

The inkwork could have been inspired by Garnacho's former Man United team-mate Antony, who dons the word 'Iluminado' in the same spot, translating to 'enlightened'

The tattoo bears resemblance to that of Garnacho's former Manchester United team-mate Antony, who dons the word 'iluminado' on the front of his neck. In Portuguese, the tongue of Brazilians, it translates to 'enlightened'.

Both Garnacho and Antony left United in the summer after being exiled to Ruben Amorim's bomb squad alongside Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia.

Antony sealed a return to Real Betis while Garnacho completed a controversial transfer to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The Argentinian has so far been reduced to just three appearances for his new club and is yet to make a start in the Premier League.

He however impressed against Benfica last night, playing a crucial part in the game's deciding and solitary goal.

And speaking afterwards, Garnacho opened up about his Old Trafford exit for the first time.

'I think it was a difficult moment there, just training alone,' he told TNT Sports.

'But I've got nothing bad to say about my old club Manchester United. There are bad moments in life, I'm very happy to be here now, play in this competition and get three points today.

The Argentinian made his Champions League debut for the Blues on Tuesday

He played a crucial part in the game's deciding and solitary goal as Jose Mourinho made his return to Stamford Bridge

'When we were young we dreamed of playing Champions League nights and we are here now so I’m very happy.

‘It’s three big points. We needed that after losing our first game so we’re all very happy.’

At his Old Trafford return last month as Chelsea lost 2-1 to Amorim's side, United fans gave Garnacho anything but a warm welcome.

He was targeted with chants during the warm-up and booed throughout the contest in the thrashing Manchester rain.

United fans could be heard singing: 'Who's that t*** from Argentina? Who's that money-grabbing w**re?

'Garnacho is his name and he hasn’t got a brain and he won’t be winning trophies anymore!'

The song continued throughout the first half of the game. It was the same chant that United fans targeted Carlos Tevez with when he swapped United for Manchester City in 2009 in a £47m deal.

Garnacho is yet to register a goal or assist for his new club.
