A man is wanted by police after he allegedly claimed to be a professional basketball player to convince a valet he was the owner of a $90,000 BMW that he stole from a hotel.
Police in Savannah claim the suspect handed over a valet ticket for a gray 2026 BMW X5 at the Hyatt Regency hotel at just after midnight on August 14. He then got into the vehicle and drove off.
It's claimed the man told the valet and other employees that he was a professional basketball player and had parked a number of his vehicles at the hotel.
In reality, the car belonged to a local dealership and had been loaned to a guest staying at the hotel.
Before he jumped in the BMW, the man was seen in the hotel lobby and taking things out of a white Audi. It was after that he presented the BMW's valet ticket to staff.
The dealership that owns the BMW managed to track its location to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.

It comes after alleged NFL fraudster Daejon Love is said to have swindled several women in financial scams by convincing them he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers
Police later discovered that the white 2025 Audi A5 had also been reported stolen but it was found in the hotel's parking garage unlocked on the same morning with no visible damage.
It is allegedly not the first time the suspect has carried out a similar plot, either. Just over a week before, a guest at a Fairfield Inn had her 2019 Toyota C-HR stolen from the valet stand on August 6.
Savannah Police released four surveillance pictures of the suspect on social media on Friday in an attempt to discover his identity.
It comes after alleged NFL fraudster Daejon Love is said to have swindled several women in financial scams by convincing them he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers.
Prosecutors are pushing to keep him behind bars after he was accused of attempting to swindle multiple women he met on dating apps.
The alleged aim of Love's purported scheme was to prop up phony investments by posing as a 49ers player.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, prosecutors are asking a judge to keep Love detained, arguing that evidence against him is strong and he has 'every incentive to flee.'
Last week, it was announced by the Department of Justice that Love, 35, and alleged accomplice, Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, were arrested at an airport in Boise, Idaho.
The criminal complaint, obtained by the Daily Mail, lays out evidence against Love – including an alleged lie to at least one woman that he was related to Jordan Love, the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers.
Additionally, Daejon falsely claimed he had relationships with Tyreek Hill, Antonio Brown and John Brown.
