A former Manchester United striker is reportedly on the verge linking up with former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer amid a breakdown in relations with his current club.

Dutch forward Memphis Depay, who spent two years with United from 2015-17, is of interest to Turkish outfit Besiktas, currently led by Solskjaer.

According to Turkish outlet fotoMac, Besiktas have been given the green light by Depay's current club to enter in negotiations on personal terms with the player.

Depay is currently on the books of Corinthians but his relationship with the club appears to have broken down amid a wages dispute.

According to Brazilian outlet Globo, Depay has skipped training with Corinthians over an unpaid debt.

The club reportedly owes him £625,000, rising to at least another £1.25m in bonus payments come September.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is current manager at Besiktas and is reportedly eyeing up Depay

Memphis Depay had a largely unsuccessful stint at Old Trafford before Solskjaer was manager

Depay has a year to run on his current contract but appears set to move to Turkey, provided personal terms can be agreed.

The Dutchman left United after a frustrating period following a £25million move to Manchester, scoring just seven goals in 53 appearances.

He departed Old Trafford a year before Solskjaer took over as manager.

Depay went on to enjoy a successful stint at French club Lyon, notching 76 goals in five seasons, before going on to play for Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

At international level, Depay has equalled Robin van Persie as the Netherlands' top goal scorer.
